The Piraeus City Guide, platform is a digital guide to the city of Piraeus, a modern tool for exploring the area for visitors and residents alike. It gathers, organizes, and presents useful information such as attractions, shops, events, transportation, and more. The information is available at all times without restrictions to all interested users. The displayed content is available in Greek and English, while the main interaction with the platform is achieved through a mobile application for smartphones and tablets.

Description

The Piraeus City Guide platform consists of a mobile application (front end) provided to users and a management component (back end) for overall information management.

Cutting-Edge Technologies

Cutting-edge technologies were used for the development of the platform, specifically Microsoft .Net 6 Web API for the back end and React Native for the mobile application (front end). The database was developed using PostgreSQL to meet the platform's needs.

Application Design

The application design follows a modern approach, offering a user-friendly interface that can be used by anyone without requiring specific knowledge or experience. The color palette used is pleasant and soothing, with necessary color contrasts to highlight text and images.

The application provides multilingual content (GR, EN) and has been developed for Android and iOS operating systems. It is available for installation from the Google Play Store and App Store.

Application Users

Users of the mobile application (visitors, residents, external users) can search for information about points of interest in the Piraeus area, navigate to them, and rate businesses, among other functionalities.

Similarly, municipal staff (internal users) can access the administrative section of the platform (back end) to:

  • Gather information from businesses and showcase it in the application,
  • Enter information about events organized in the city,
  • Perform queries in the database, view statistics, and more.
